As an expression of its commitment to the development of outstanding talent in the natural science and engineering fields, the GENERAL ELECTRIC Foundation. has established a scholarship program in Korea which is being administered by the Korean-American Educational Commission in cooperation with the Institute of International Education (IIE).


Award Benefits
 
A recipient of a GE Scholarship will receive the sum of W3,000,000 per year which will be paid in equal installments at the middle of each semester. The scholarship will be granted for one year initially, and renewed for two additional years subject to certification of continuing outstanding academic performance for a total period of three years.

Also, recipients of GE Scholarship will have an opportunity to participate in the Annual Leadership Seminar to be held for three full days.

 
Application and Selection Procedures
 

The application forms are downloadable from the KAEC website www.fulbright.or.kr. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all the required documentation has been submitted or mailed to the KAEC office by the relevant application deadline.

After a documentary screening by specialists, applicants recommended for further consideration will be contacted, either by phone or letter, concerning the time and place of the oral interview.

KAEC makes the final selection of the recipients of the GE Scholarships based on the recommendations of the interview panel and other factors as may be deemed appropriate.

The competition schedule for 2009 is as follows:

Application period: Early April, 2009
Oral interview: May, 2009
Selection: June, 2009
