The objective of this project area is to promote the development of American studies in Korea.
For Koreans, the study of the society and culture of the United States from the perspective of any social sciences, fine arts or humanities discipline. For Americans, lecturing in Korea in any relevant academic discipline on topics related to the United States. Proposals for cross-cultural research pertaining to Korea and the U.S will be considered.

The primary objective of this project area is to promote the development of Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering in Korea. In cooperation with the ROK Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, one of thesethree fields will be designated as a supported field for the program year.
For the 2009 program year, life sciences are chosen as the designated supported field for Korean students who will pursue a graduate degree study at a U.S. university.
