A. Requirement Factors:

1. Korean citizenship
current legal resident of Korea and living in Korea; dual citizens are not eligible.
2. good health (however, disabled applicants are encouraged to apply.)
3. must not have been a recipient of a U.S. government funded grant (Fulbright or other) during the past five years
4. adequate English language proficiency
5. appropriate academic or professional background
Applications are accepted for projects in the arts, humanities, business and social sciences.

Candidate¡¯s early departure for the U.S. before August, 2009 owing to personal reasons or being sponsored by other than Fulbright/Dept. of State program will result in automatically disqualifying candidate from the Fulbright program with no exception. Typical samples of automatic disqualification are as follows:

- If a candidate holds J-2 visa which is longer than 6 months duration during the period from September, 2008 to August, 2009.

If a candidate leaves for the U.S. before August , 2009 due to reasons occurred after selection was notified.

B. Preference Factors:

- Excellence
- Less previous U.S. experience
- Research focus on the Study of the US

Applicants who are not seeking to go back to their alma mater in the U.S. for any degrees

- For Lecturer/Researchers, greater emphasis on lecturing about Korea
